Nowadays, it is inevitable to get kinds of popup ads when browser online. Some popup ads are supported by the website, which will only display you ads when you visit the specific sites when you exit the website, the popup ads also disappeared. While some are malicious popup ads, which show you whenever you visit whatever sites, and display you popup window, such as “Ads not by this site”, “Ads powered by Snapsearch”, “Ads by Bettersurf” etc… In this article, we focus our energy to share ways to block and remove malicious popup ads in Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Firefox.

Usually, malicious popup ads is actually caused by PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program) infection that makes its way to modify the system files and insert its browser extension into web browsers including Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox to display various ads. Often, using social engineering tricks, the malicious popup ads are distributed or promoted via unwanted downloads. They often come as a result of installing some adware program, Yontoo, CouponBuddy, DealPly, Delta toolbar, Babylon Toolbar, for instance. When you need and download a necessary program, malicious program bundled with it, and try to install automatically under your inadvertent consent.

How to Block and Stop Popup Ads in Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Firefox?

Step1, Check program in the Control panel and uninstall malicious programs.

When malicious code runs on your computer, it may download and install malicious program or toolbar on your computer to further better spread advertisement. If you find any suspicious program or toolbar in the control panel, please uninstall them all.

Removing program:

Please go to the Start Menu. Select Control Panel :arrow: :arrow: Add/Remove Programs.
If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, select Control Panel :arrow: Uninstall a Program.

Search for any suspicious program or toolbar in the list. Select the program and click Remove button. If you are using Windows Vista/7, click Uninstall up near the top of that window.

Important Note: If you are uncertain about a program, please search and check the detail information before uninstalling.


Step2, Kill and remove the malicious code that brings advertisement pop up.

Run a full scan with your anti-virus program or anti-malware program. Before you run, please make sure your anti-virus program virus definition has been updated with latest database. If you are unable to start and run anti-virus or anti-malware program, please restart your computer into safe mode or safe mode with networking to kill the malicious code.

Quiet informative and well explained. But i would like to add that you may also install a trusted ad blocker to stop such pop ups in your browser.
Such as adblockplus, ablockplus, ublockplus etc.
