Possible wajam ''toolbar'' on chrome

Postby Zero » 2014-10-31 6:28

Hi.

I usually make sure I dont install any extra toolbars, or whatsoever when I install something, but I've must have missed something.. Anyway, I tried checking extentions on my chrome for any way to remove it, then I did a malware check and put some malware into quarantine.. I restarted my computer, but I still do have this weird toolbar. I've never seen it before, and I find it very strange. I saw it said something about ''Wajam'' which also got detected by the anti-malware scan I ran, I did put it into quarantine but still have it.. Hm. I checked if I had any programs installed called ''Wajam.'', didn't have anything..

I couldn't put picture into a spoiler, so I'll just post the link:

Hope you can help me out here.

Hi Zero, welcome to Anvisoft Forums.

The picture you posted suggests that your search query "staticwajam-wajam.netdna-ssl.com" was blocked by Yahoo. "staticwajam-wajam.netdna-ssl.com" is a website where you can download and install Wajam, a potentially adware program. Wajam do generate numerous ads but we have not encountered Wajam TOOLBAR. So could you please show us what exactly the Wajam "toolbar" like?

For how to get rid of Wajam adware program you can check this: How to Remove Ads by Wajam?

By the way the Wajam ads keeps showing may because there are Wajam leftovers on your computer and Chrome.

I am looking forward to your further information.

Best Regards,
Frances

Thank you.

Well, the thing is, I did not search for anything on yahoo, it shows up like this everytime I start my google chrome, also whenever I open another tab.

Also, the guide did not help me as I do not have any program installed called ''Wajam'' and I do not have any wajam extentions either. Also, there's these 2 files which keeps staying there, even when I put them into quarantine, could that be the problem?

''Files: 2
PUP.Optional.Wajam.A, C:\Users\William\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Local Storage\http_www.wajam.com_0.localstorage, , [42554beb25574ee829984bfffd06926e],

Hi Zero,

Thanks for your patience.

The files you listed may be the problem.

Wajam may not that easy to remove due to users' computer environment. Here I recommend you try this Trend Micro HijackThis tool, it will scan your computer and generate a log file, which may told us what's happened on your computer. Please send us your log file via support@anvisoft.com.

Hi Zero,

According to the log file you sent us, you computer my be corrupted by this Pokki program, which usually comes bundled with third party, like Spotify.

So here are some advices to fix your problem:

1 Go to your Task Manager, find Pokki related process, end it.
2 Go to start, type “msconfig” in the search box, click on enter. In the opened window, System Configuration, go to Startup, disable Pokki related program. Restart your computer.
3 Now go to your Control Panel, please uninstall Pokki.
4 Reboot your computer again. Check your computer and browser. If you still get your problem, you need to uninstall this Spotify program.

Here is a video guide you can take as a reference to remove Pokki.
