Step 1> Reset Internet Browser Settings
a. Open Internet Explorer, click Tools->Internet Options
b. Click on the General tab, reset the homepage to about:blank, google.com or whichever you prefer.
c. Click on the Connections tab, Click on the LAN settings and there will bring up a window of LAN settings, uncheck the Use a proxy server checkbox as shown below.
d. The click ok to save the changes and close the Internet Options window.
Step 2> Check out the host files by going to C:/WINDOWS/system32/drivers/, search hosts and there will comes out hosts files and hosts backup files. Open both of them in the form of notepad and then make sure the hosts file is in accordance with the hosts backup file.
Step 3> If there is also a toolbar added to your IE, Firefox or Google Chrome, please follow below steps to fix that: (If not, please just skip to next step)
Click Start->Control Panel-> Programs->Add/Uninstall a Program (for windows 7) to check out whether there is an add-on related to search.softonic.com or softonic thing installed, if any, click it to remove. And then continue below steps.
Click Tools->Manage Add-ons, choose the added softonic related toolbar and then remove it.
Shut down the IE and then reopen it to check it out.

Click Wrench icon, and then navigate to Tools-extensions, and then choose the related extension and click on the small recycle bin icon to remove the toolbar.
Then again click the wrench icon, click on Settings, on the search area, click on manage search engines and then select the related softonic search engines and remove it.
Shut down the Google Chrome and then reopen it to check it out.
